November Train and Gain: When Perspective Collapses: Restoring Reflective Capacity in Supervision and Clinical Work.
Train & Gain with Drina Nibbe, LMFT, LPC, AAMFT-AS, ACS
Even the most self-aware clinicians can feel alone, reactive, or overly certain in complex cases—especially when attachment activation narrows perspective and disrupts our ability to accurately make meaning.
Join Drina Nibbe, LMFT, LPC, AAMFT-AS, ACS for an experiential Train & Gain exploring how reflective supervision can restore clarity, strengthen clinical judgment, and expand relational awareness.
Designed for supervisors and aspiring supervisors—and highly relevant for any MFT working with adults who shape a child’s relational world—this training examines how reflective supervision differs from traditional supervision by intentionally using the supervisory relationship to slow down, regulate, and explore parallel process in real time.
Participants will explore the progression from self-supervision to dyadic and group reflective supervision and learn how expanding the relational field can increase cognitive and affective flexibility. A brief experiential exercise will allow attendees to observe how attachment activation can influence perspective before those patterns re-enter the client system.
Drina is an AAMFT Approved Supervisor and NBCC Approved Clinical Supervisor with extensive experience in family systems, infant and early childhood mental health, reflective supervision, attachment, and parallel process.
Slow down. Expand perspective. Strengthen the relational field.
Train. Connect. Gain. Grow.
Learning Objectives:
By the end of this training, participants will be able to:
Differentiate between reflective capacity, functioning and supervision, identify the supervision modality most aligned with developing each.
Describe how reflective supervision differs from relational supervision, including how AAMFT's relational model creates the alliance foundation necessary for reflective process work, and corresponding areas of clinical competency evaluation.
Explain how group reflective supervision enhances affect regulation, particularly when attachment systems are activated and perspective-taking temporarily decreases.
Identify one practical shift in supervisory or clinical stance that increases reflective process in their clinical work.
